Special weather statement due to low air quality ends for Ottawa

A special weather statement linked to low air quality has officially ended for the capital.

Environment Canada issued the statement last week, due to “smoke plumes from forest fires over northeastern Ontario and Quebec resulting in deteriorated air quality.”

Several Canada Day celebrations across the capital were impacted by the statement, including officials in Pembroke officially postponing Canada Day fireworks at Riverside Park.
