By CityNews Ottawa staff

The emergency department (ED) at the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital will close overnight, beginning this evening at 7 p.m., due to a shortage of nursing staff.

The hospital’s ED is scheduled to open tomorrow morning (July 7) at 7 a.m.

The rest of the hospital is still open and caring for patients.

“We know these closures are concerning for our community,” said Mary Wilson Trider, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital. “Unfortunately, we are dealing with multiple sick leaves. We are in contact with Ontario Health East Ministry staff to discuss potential solutions.”
