Ricky Starks ready to battle CM Punk in epic showdown during Calgary Stampede

Right in the middle of one of the greatest Canadian traditions, Ricky Starks is preparing for his biggest battle in the ring.
On Saturday, July 15 as AEW Collision is live from the Calgary Stampede, Starks is gearing up to face a man he’s admired and watched for many years as a sheer wrestling fan, CM Punk, in the finals of the Owen Hart Tournament.
No titles. Just bragging rights.
And Starks knows what a win against a man who’s been dubbed ‘the best in the world’ would mean.
“I’m no stranger to opportunities here in AEW and I feel like being in the same ring as CM Punk, it’s such a huge deal,” said Starks in an interview with CityNews Calgary. “A win against CM Punk would help build my resume into becoming an all around, great professional wrestler.”
Starks has made his presence known since joining the AEW roster, and a win against Punk would certainly enhance his opportunity at holding a major title in the company.
“Maybe our champions are just afraid to challenge me, cause they know what will happen in the end,” said Starks. “But here’s the way I see it. I don’t need a title because I can be decorated without having all the gold.”
No matter the outcome of his match with Punk, Starks is proving that the future of the wrestling industry is in good hands.
“Hopefully, I’ll be able to celebrate a win,” said Starks. “And getting a chance to go out and celebrate at the Stampede.”
