Canada’s Brooke Henderson finished second at the Evian Championship in Evian-Les-Bains, France on Sunday, falling one spot short of defending her title at the LPGA Tour major.

The 25-year-old native of Smiths Falls, Ont. finished six strokes behind home-country favourite Celine Boutier, who was 14 under for the tournament.

It was Henderson’s best finish since winning the season-opening Tournament of Champions.

The 13-time tournament winner has had a bit of a down year by her lofty standards, with her only top-10s coming at the Tournament of Champions and the Evian.

Henderson started the day four strokes behind Boutier, who never was threatened in the final round.

The runner-up showing moves Henderson to seventh from 17th in this year’s tour standings.
