Pointe-Gatineau death now a homicide, one woman arrested

By CityNews Ottawa

A man’s death, Sunday night, in Pointe Gatineau is now being treated as a homicide and one woman has been charged.

Officers were called to rue Pointe-Gatineau, around 10 p.m. Sunday, where a 49-year-old man was found dead after an altercation inside a home.

Gatineau police have identified the victim as Éric Madore.

Police say they arrested Mélanie Lagrois, 46, and that she had a court appearance scheduled Monday on one charge of manslaughter.

Police say the owners of the home where the victim died are not involved in the killing, and that there is no family nor marital relationship between the victim and the accused.

The investigation continues.

Earlier this month, police in Gatineau responded to that city’s first homicide of the year, after a man in his 50s died of his injuries after being shot in the area of Boulevard Montclair and Boulevard St-Joseph on July 19.
