Water rescue launched near Deschenes Rapids after boat gets stuck

Some intense moments for a boater and their canine passenger at Deschênes Rapids Monday afternoon.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to the area shortly before 2:20 p.m. following a 9-1-1 call from a civilian about a boat that had become stuck.

Crews arrived on scene and confirmed a boat was stuck on a rock shelf in the middle of the rapids.

The OFS Water Rescue Team made their way towards the boat, which had one person and dog on board, both wearing their PFD (personal flotation device).

Both were brought safely back to shore and there are no injuries reported.
