Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have now revealed more details of what was behind its advisory for some Smiths Falls residents to stay inside their homes and lock their doors on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Police stopped a vehicle on Blinkhorn Lane in Montague Township, around 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, to carry out two outstanding arrest warrants.

OPP said one of the three occupants of the vehicle ran off into a wooded area, and was later located and arrested by the OPP’s Emergency Response Team and Canine officers.

The two other vehicle occupants were arrested without incident. Police say they seized a firearm from the vehicle, along with drugs and cash.

Chase Lahaise, 30, of Smiths Falls, is charged with a long list of offences, including drug possession, unauthorized possession of a firearm and assaulting a peace officer. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Two others are also charged. Samantha Findley, 38, of Smiths Falls, is accused of obstructing a peace officer and failing to comply with a probation order. Krinda Anderson, 32, of Smiths Falls, is charged with drug possession.

Both Findley and Anderson are due in court in Perth in October.
