One injured in Gatineau apartment fire

One person has been injured in a Gatineau apartment fire.

The Gatineau fire department responded to a six-story multi-unit building at 46 rue Bédard around 7:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

A fire had broken out in a third floor unit and second-alarm was declared when crews arrived on scene.

A total of 32 firefighters responded and 80 people were evacuated from the building.

The occupant of the apartment or origin was located unconscious during a primary search by firefighters and taken into the care of paramedics.

The fire was under control by 8:10 p.m. and the damage estimate is $50,000.
