Report shows increase Ottawa’s average rent prices

The cost of Ottawa apartments has increased, that’s according to a new report.

The latest report from Rentals.ca shows the cost of a one-bedroom in August was just over $2,000, while the cost of a two-bedroom was just over $2,500 a month.

The average asking rent for a one-bedroom apartment increased from $1,979 in July and $1,925 in May of this year.

The average cost to rent an apartment in August of 2023 in Ottawa was $2,226, which is an increase of nearly 12 per cent from August 2022.

The asking rent prices in Canada increased 1.8 per cent monthly, reaching a record high of $2,117 in August.

Stats also show the average roommate rentals in cities like Vancouver and Toronto were the highest, with Quebec and Alberta trailing behind.

Cities with the highest rent prices in August were Vancouver, Oakville, and Toronto, with the cost of an apartment at over $3,000.
