Hwy 417 bridge replacement at Percy St. postponed again

By CityNews Ottawa Staff

The replacement of the Highway 417 Percy Street bridge will not take place this weekend as planned.

After already having been rescheduled once with no reason given, the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) said in a statement to CityNews that the rapid bridge replacement will not take place the weekend of Sept. 28 and did not give a reason for the delay for a second time.

However, the ministry went on to say that they will continue to work with their contractor –  Kiewit- Dufferin Midtown Partnership (KDMP) – to confirm the next available date for when the replacement can be scheduled.

Beacon Hill-Cyrville councillor Tim Tierney said in a statement to CityNews Ottawa, “It’s getting frustrating to residents and cyclists and pedestrians as well. We also have to plan for policing and detours…So we’re really hoping they’ll [MTO] tell us what the issue is because the runway is getting short before winter.”
