Don’t walk alone: Ottawa Butterfly Run raising awareness of infant loss this weekend

The seventh annual Ottawa Butterfly Run is being held this weekend in support of all those who have experienced miscarriage, infant loss and/or infertility.

The 2023 edition of the annual family walk/run is taking place on Sunday, Oct. 1 at W.C. Levesque Park, with all proceeds going to support Roger Neilson House (RNH) on the grounds of CHEO.

RHN offers a perinatal hospice program that supports families whose babies are likely to die before, during, or shortly after birth. It also offers a perinatal loss bereavement support group for parents who have lost a pregnancy over 20 weeks, as well as infant death.

It is estimated that one in four women will experience miscarriage or pregnancy loss and that one in six Canadians experience infertility.

All participants in the Ottawa Butterfly Run are encouraged to take plenty of photos and post to social media using the hashtag #butterflyrunottawa2023.

In 2022, the Ottawa Butterfly Run raised $70,000 for RHN, which you can learn more about here.
