By CityNews Ottawa staff

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigators “believe someone has key information” in relation to the disappearance of Smiths Falls resident Lawrence Bertrim.

Lawrence, who would now be 43-years-old, was last seen on Sept. 30, 2022 at roughly 11 p.m. in downtown Smiths Falls.

The Smiths Falls Police Service (SFPS) initially began a missing person investigation and requested assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police in December of 2022. SFPS  has been working collaboratively with the OPP since January of this year, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

Bertrim is 5’6″, medium build,149 lbs with brown hair and blue eyes.

While investigators have been receiving an abundance of second-hand information, the detectives need to hear from anyone with potential first-hand knowledge of his activities the night he disappeared or in the days leading up to Sept 30, 2022.

Investigators and family members are concerned for Lawrence’s well-being and believe someone in the community has information regarding his whereabouts.

A video appeal from Lawrence BERTRIM’s family can be see on the Ontario Provincial Police East Region Facebook page or on X at @OPP_ER.

Anyone with information should call the OPP tip line at 1-844-677-9404 to reach detectives working on the investigation.

If you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS) or online at www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
