Carleton Place man charged with child pornography offences

By CityNews Ottawa

A six-month child pornography investigation has ended with charges against a Carleton Place man, and police say more charges could be coming.

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Internet Child Exploitation Unit began an investigation into someone uploading child pornography online, in May of this year. Police say that investigation led to the execution of a search warrant on Thursday, Oct. 5.

Eric Cloutier, 48, of Carleton Place has been arrested and charged with unlawfully possessing child pornography as well as with breaching an order from a sexual offence conviction.

Cloutier was due to appear in court on Friday, Oct. 6.

Ottawa police say their investigation continues and that further charges may be laid.
