OPP officer assaulted during Pembroke break and enter, one man charged

An Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer from Pembroke was assaulted during a break-and-enter resulting in the arrest of one man.

In a press release issued on Friday, Oct. 6, Upper Ottawa Valley OPP noted the incident took place at a home on Pembroke Street West near Forced Road on Monday, Oct. 2.

The incident, which happened around 4 a.m., resulted in the officers being assaulted, but police say there were no serious injuries.

Andrew Stephen Stalkie, 42, was charged with assaulting a peace officer in connection with the incident, among others.

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP also noted that the accused was charged with mischief related to damaging property and possessing cocaine.

Stalkie was released from custody and is expected to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Thursday, Nov. 2.
