Ottawa police have made an arrest in connection to a shooting that took place in the city’s downtown core earlier this summer.

Four people, including bystanders, where injured as a result of a shooting on Clarence Street near the ByWard Market in downtown Ottawa at around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 10.

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) said a 17-year-old has been arrested with multiple counts of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, aggravated assault as well as several firearms offences.

The OPS Guns and Gangs Unit in collaboration with Neighbourhood Resource Teams, the Repeat Offender Provincial Enforcement Unit (ROPE), and with assistance from the Toronto Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit and Emergency Task Force arrested the youth in the Greater Toronto Area over the weekend.

The 17-year-old male can’t be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He will appear in court at a later date.
