Drugs and cash seized during traffic stop near Whitewater Region, 21-year-old from Kanata facing numerous charges

A 21-year-old from Kanata is facing charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers found drugs during a traffic stop on Highway 17 near Whitewater Region earlier this month.

On Nov. 10, 2023, at just after 4 p.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act (HTA) violation on Highway 17. 

During the investigation, with the assistance of the UOV OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), police seized a significant quantity of cash along with cannabis and suspected oxycodone.

As a result of this investigation 21-year-old Aurelien Boutaleb has been charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), Criminal Code (CC), HTA, Cannabis Control Act (CCA) and Tobacco Tax Act (TTA) offences:

-Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – oxycodon

-Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

-Possess unmarked cigarettes

-Possess more than one licence

-Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

-Speeding

-G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver

-Driver fail to surrender licence

The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Jan. 9, 2024.
