Gatineau police lay charges in connection to shooting in Hull

The Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG) has laid charges after one man was sent to hospital following a shooting in Hull.

Gatineau police said officers were called to the area of boulevard du Casino and boulevard de la Carrière at around 4:45 p.m on Monday, Nov. 27 with reports that a man was suffering from an alleged gunshot wound.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment and is expected to survive, police said. A man in his 50s who was with the shooting victim had minor injuries according to Gatineau police.

The information gathered by the police officers at the scene determined that the victim had been struck by firearm projectiles while he was on Eddy Street in the Hull sector.

Gatineau Police said 30-year-old Domenic James Edward Fortune is charged with using of a restricted firearm, pointing a firearm, reckless use of a firearm, and extortion.

The investigation is ongoing, and police believe that this was a targeted incident.
