Kingston police arrest one person in connection to ‘potential threat’ that closed city hall

One person has been arrested after comments made online posed a potential threat to people working at Kingston City Hall.

The Kingston Police Service (KPS) said officers were made aware the comments, which were not directed to any individual or group of individuals and indicated a potential threat to the safety of people inside city hall on on Nov. 27.

Police said a 27-year-old suspect was arrested and is facing a charge of uttering threats.

The City of Kingston said on Tuesday, Nov. 28 to say that city hall, including the Market Wing Cultural Space, was closing for the rest of the day and asked staff to work from home or at other City of Kingston sites.
