Senators’ Thomas Chabot headed to LTIR, expected to be out a month

Ottawa Senators defenceman Thomas Chabot out for the next four weeks and will be placed on long-term injured reserve, head coach D.J. Smith confirmed Thursday.

Chabot appeared to sustain a leg injury during Saturday’s 2-0 win against the Seattle Kraken. The 26-year-old from Sainte-Marie, Que., had just returned a day prior, picking up an assist in a 4-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, after missing 10 contests due to a fractured hand.

Since sustaining the leg injury, Chabot missed Tuesday’s 6-2 win over the New York Rangers and Thursday night’s 4-3 loss at home to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Chabot has four assists in nine games this season.
