A 32-year-old man has been arrested and is facing an impaired driving charge after crashing into a ditch on the Queensway.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to the collision on Highway 417 at Greenbank Road in the evening of Friday, Dec. 8.

The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The OPP, Ottawa Police Service (OPS) and the RCMP are conducting ‘Festive RIDE’ checks across the capital this holiday season and are on the lookout for impaired drivers.

The OPS said in a release earlier this week that just under 800 drivers (796) has been charged with impaired driving in 2023.

Impaired drivers have been involved in 229 collisions, seven of them fatal, according to the OPS.
