Looking for something to do before New Years? Here are some ideas

If you’re looking for something to do now that Christmas is over, there are still a few things that are ongoing to keep you entertained.

There are a number are holiday activities happening in Ottawa and around eastern Ontario leading to the new year.

Holiday activities:

  • Magic of Lights: Wesley Clover Park Campground, 411 Corkstown Road from Nov. 17 to Jan. 6
  • Winter Lights across Canada: Parliament Hill from Dec. 7 to Jan. 7
  • Flights with Santa: Canadian Aviation and Space Museum, 11 Aviation Parkway until Tuesday, Dec. 26. $45 per person with three 3 passengers or $55 per person with two passengers.

You can also check out the ‘Alight at Night’ festival at Upper Canada Village. During the festival, over one million lights adorn the heritage buildings, trees, and fences. There will also be horse-drawn carriage rides.

‘Alight at Night’ runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. from Tuesday, Dec 26 to Saturday, Jan. 6.

New Years!

Hogman-eh! runs from 5 p.m. on December 31 until 1 a.m. January 1 at Lansdowne’s Aberdeen Pavilion and it’s a Scottish-style new year’s celebration. You can enjoy Scottish food, drinks, entertainment and dancing as well as a midnight fireworks show at Lansdowne Park.

Kids Countdown begins at 7 p.m. New Year’s Eve.

Admission is free until 9 p.m. then it’s a $10 entry fee.
