A 19-year-old is facing charges after trying to flee from police and crashing her car early Wednesday morning in the capital’s west end.
Ottawa Police Service (OPS) said at about 4:00 a.m., two vehicles were speeding southbound on March Road. When officers attempted to pull them over, police said both sped off.
OPS said one of the vehicles later crashed near March Road and Campeau Drive where they arrested the driver.
Police said they located three other people who were involved a short time afterwards, though didn’t specify if they were involved in the crash.
None of them were charged and there is no word yet on what happened to the second vehicle.
Lynn Similien, 19, from Lorraine, Quebec was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, resisting a peace officer and failing to comply with a release order.
OPS said the investigation is ongoing.
No injuries have been reported.
This is the second high speed chase in the city on Wednesday. Earlier in the morning, a 17-year-old was charged with possession of a property obtained by a crime exceeding $5,000.
