Police arrest 77-year old repeat drunk driver from Gatineau

Police have arrested a Gatineau man with over two dozen previous impaired driving convictions on Thursday.

The Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG) said in a release that they stopped a vehicle without a license plate that was in a parking lot of a business on De Masson Road at around 10:30 a.m.

While police said the suspect was not intoxicated, they discovered he was not allowed to drive a motor vehicle.

SPVG then arrested Roger Murray, 77, of Gatineau for driving while prohibited.

Police said this is his eighth offense of driving while prohibited since 1998.

Murray will remain in custody until his bail hearing.

In addition to being charged, Murray’s vehicle was impounded for 30 days, according to authorities.
