Elderly pedestrian dead after fatal hit-and-run on Bank Street

Police are asking the public for help after an elderly person was killed after being hit by a vehicle on Tuesday afternoon in Alta Vista.
The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) said they were called to the 1600 block of Bank Street at around 4:55 p.m. for a hit and run on an elderly pedestrian.
Emergency crews transported the victim to hospital where they were pronounced dead from their injuries.
Investigators are not releasing the victim’s name, age or gender.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or may have dashcam footage of what happened, to call the OPS Fatal Collision Investigation Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
