Pembroke resident facing numerous charges after domestic dispute call

A 43-year-old resident of Pembroke is facing a number of charges in connection to a domestic dispute call, which also involved the killing of a family dog.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said its investigation into the occurrence started on Dec. 25, 2023, after police responded to a domestic dispute in progress in the city of Pembroke.

OPP said incidents dating to the spring of 2023 were reported by the victim.

As a result of this investigation a 43-year-old from Pembroke has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle – two counts
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Killing or injuring animal
  • Fail to comply with probation – four counts

The accused was held for a bail hearing and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on a future date.
