One person dead after fire in Arnprior

One person is dead after a fire at a multi-unit residence in Arnprior.

The Renfrew County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the residence on Elgin Street around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10.

One person, a 30-year-old, was taken to Arnprior Regional Hospital where they were later pronounced dead.

According to the OPP, three other people living in the three-unit building escaped unharmed.

The Ontario Office of the Fire Marshall will continue to investigate, with assistance from the Office of the Chief Coroner and the OPP’s Forensic Identification Services.
