Highway 401 visibility poor in Kingston, says OPP

OPP is warning drivers that conditions are poor in the Kingston area, with heavy snow making visibility difficult on Highway 401.

Police warned on Tuesday that traffic along the 401 could be backed up because of the weather in the city and west of it.

OPP said that drivers should keep full headlights on during the winter weather travel advisory in effect for the area.

Environment Canada is warning drivers that heavy snowfall and reduced visibility will continue until Monday afternoon.

“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions,” advised the weather service. “If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.”

While conditions have improved as the lake effect snow continues to pile down, visibility is still poor, said police.
