Ottawa’s RA Centre has received $100,000 in provincial funding to support its role in hosting the 2024 Canadian U-18 Curling Championships.
Scheduled from Sunday, Feb. 4 to Saturday, Feb. 10, the premier curling event involves 42 boys and girls teams competing on the national stage at the RA Curling Centre of Excellence and the Ottawa Hunt Club.
The funding comes from the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport’s 2023-2024 Ontario Sport Hosting Program, which provides project-based funding to help applicants deliver national and international amateur sport events in Ontario.
“We are committed to delivering a rewarding experience for the athletes, spectators and our community, and we look forward to witnessing this country’s best youth curlers compete on a national stage,” said Ian Fraser, RA, CEO. “We are extremely grateful to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport for their support.”
“Our government is proud to support the 2024 Canadian U-18 Curling Championships through the Ontario Sport Hosting Program. We recognize the important economic impact that this competition will have on Ottawa and the National Capital Region, as well as the development of our high-performance athletes, coaches and officials,” said Neil Lumsden, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport.
