New online tool helps Ottawa residents look up property values, taxes

The City of Ottawa has launched a new online service to help homeowners.

The Online Property Tax and Assessment Look-up Tool helps residents look up property assessment values and taxes for the current and previous year.

To find the information, you must enter the address or roll number.

No private information such as an owner’s name, mailing address, or any occupant or tenant information will be available online.

“The property address, roll number, assessment, and tax classification and property taxes on a property are public information. The application displays the taxes that are levied in May each year. The tool does not provide account balances, supplemental taxes or any other information such as the Vacant Unit Tax and Assessment related decisions,” the city says.

Residents previously had to appear in-person at Ottawa City Hall to access property tax and assessment information.

The city says this information will now be available online from anywhere, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will be updated annually each June.

Hard copies of the information will still be stored at the City Hall Client Service Centre for those who prefer to view it in person.
