OPP charges 2 Ottawa drivers with drunk driving

Police have charged two people with impaired driving after a pair of crashes outside of the city.

OPP said the first call was on South Russell Road in Russell Township on Jan. 26 at around 4:30 p.m.

Officers were called to the scene of a collision and arrested a 45-year old woman for drunk driving.

Police were called to another crash on Jan. 27 on the west bound lane of Highway 417 near mile marker 66 at around 3:44 a.m.

Officers arrested a 20-year-old man for impaired driving.

No injuries were reported.

Angela Whitney, 45, and Camden Latour-Barrett, 20, were both charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus and operation while impaired by alcohol.

Whitney faces a further charge of driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.

Police said both received 90-day driver’s licence suspensions and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.

The two are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
