Firefighters quickly knock down Ridgeview deck fire

Firefighters stopped a deck fire from spreading to a home in the city’s west end.

Ottawa Fire Service (OFS) said they got the call at around 3:50 p.m. about smoke coming from a wooden deck at a Thorson Avenue two-storey home on Friday.

Fire crews arrived on scene within three minutes. They made their way to the backyard and had to saw open the deck to access and extinguish the fire.

Firefighters had to use high pressurized fans to clear smoke from the home.

There were no reported injuries.
