Warmest February 9th on record in Ottawa

It’s going to be a mixed bag of weather for the nation’s capital over the weekend, with sunshine, rain and flurries forecast as Ottawa has already hit a daily high in the city.

The historical record for warmest day on February 9th was 7.4 C in 1990. It was broken Friday at 1 p.m. when Environment Canada’s international airport temperature reading struck 7.7 C.

The forecasted high from Friday, Feb. 9 is 8 C. As we move into the evening, there is a 70 per cent chance of showers with a low 4 C.

We could see some sunshine to start the day Saturday, then increasing cloud with a high 6 C.

Environment Canada is calling for a cloudy evening Saturday with the temperature dipping below the freezing mark to minus 3 C.

With warm temperatures in the Ottawa region, the Rideau Canal will not be open for skating this weekend.

Both Sunday and Monday are looking cloudy with highs of minus 1, and nighttime lows of minus 8, with a slight chance of flurries for Sunday.
