East end O-Train back on track after weekend disruption

OC Transpo has completed their maintenance work on O-Train line 1, wrote the transit company in a city memo.

Rail service fully launched Sunday morning after late night repairs.

On Saturday, rail service had line 1 running in both directions between Tunney’s Pasture and St-Laurent stations as well as on a single track between St-Laurent and Blair stations because of maintenance being done on an overhead power line system west of Cyrville Station.

Crews were on scene during the day investigating what caused sparking on Friday evening.

An R1 shuttle bus ran between St-Laurent and Cyrville stations after midnight to let them complete their
work, according to the memo.

“Our Transit Engineering team will work closely with [Rideau Transit Group] and with [Transportation Resource Associates] to complete a thorough assessment of the affected infrastructure and to schedule the necessary repairs to permanently resolve the issue and allow the temporary isolation to be removed,” wrote OC Transpo general manager Renée Amilcar.

She added that they will conduct a full investigation into what caused the sparking in the first place.

“We will be bringing additional details and updates to the next Transit Commission in March.”

Amilcar wrote that they will try to get representatives from RTG and TRA at the meeting to respond to any questions.
