Ottawa police looking for ‘persons of interest’ in Sandy Hill arson case

Ottawa police are asking the public for help identifying two people who may have information about a string of arsons that happened on Feb. 1 just east of the downtown core.

Police say first responders were called to Osgoode Street at around 5:30 a.m. because of several fires at units along the street.

During the blaze, three firefighters nearly fell through the floor of one unit but were rescued in time, according to Ottawa Fire.

Police say multiple people were displaced and nobody was injured.

Investigators later determined that the fires were deliberately set.

Police ask anyone who can identify the two pictured above, or has information about this incident, to call the Arson Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 2202 or by email at arson@ottawapolice.ca. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestoppers.ca.
