Firefighters rescue unconscious man in Carlington high-rise fire

An Ottawa man was found unconscious by firefighters in his apartment after they were called there by a fire alarm.
Ottawa Fire Service (OFS) say they were called to the 1200 block of Carling Avenue at around 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
Firefighters say the fire was on the 21st floor and found a haze in the hallway before finding the unit.
OFS says the internal sprinkler system had already put the fire out but they found an unconscious man inside. He was pulled out of the unit and confirmed alive.
He was transported to hospital in stable condition for observation, according to Ottawa Paramedics.
An OFS Investigator is on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
