Driver caught going over 230 km/h on Highway 417 at Moodie

One person is facing a very hefty fine after being caught going more than 130 km/h over the speed limit early this morning.

Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a 31-year-old driver going 231 km/h on Highway 417 at Moodie Drive shortly after 1 a.m.

Meantime, a second driver, a 24-year-old, was clocked in the same area around the same time going 157 km/h.

Both drivers received a 30 day, roadside drivers licence suspension and their vehicles were impounded for 14 days.

Also, the driver caught going 231km/h was charged with careless driving and fined $490.
