One person in custody following Pembroke shooting

A shelter in place has been lifted in Pembroke after a shooting early this morning.

The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the shooting on McKenzie Street around 6:30 a.m.

The shooting victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries and one person was taken into custody.

A shelter in place had been issued to people in the immediate area as a precaution, but has since been lifted.  

Police say there was no imminent threat to public safety and the investigation is ongoing.
