West end crash leads to multiple weapon charges: Ottawa police

Police have charged a man after a firearm was recovered at the scene of a collision in Ottawa’s west end on Tuesday.
The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) say at around 1:15 a.m. they responded to a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Baseline and Cobden Roads. Police say the driver tried to escape on foot.
Officers say they found a firearm at the scene of the crash.
Police have charged Jeremie Youen, 18, with the following:
- Dangerous Operation;
- Possess weapon/Dangerous to public peace;
- Carry concealed weapon;
- Unauthorized Possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon;
- Possess prohibited ammunition;
- Possess loaded regulated firearm;
- Possess a firearm prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime;
- Unlawfully possess schedule I substance.
Youen appeared in court on Tuesday and remains in custody.
