London driver charged for stunt driving in east Ontario after going twice the speed limit: OPP

Police say they charged a driver from London, Ont. with stunt driving in a township west of the capital last Tuesday.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say officers from the Killaloe Detachment stopped an SUV on Highway 41 at around 9 p.m. on Feb. 27 in the township of Bonnechere Valley.

Police say the 24-year-old driver was going 158 km/h in a 80 km/h zone.

Officers charged the driver with stunt driving and suspended their license for 30 days.

The defendant received a summons to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke, Ont. and their vehicle was towed and impounded for two weeks.

The OPP says that aggressive driving is a leading factor in fatal motor vehicle collisions.
