OPP lay charges in East Ontario child porn, sex assault case against minor

Police say they’ve charged a person with sexual assault on a child in a city southwest of Ottawa.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they executed a search warrant on Saturday at a Belleville, Ont. home.

Police arrested and charged a 21-year-old person with the following:

  • Sexual interference on a person under 16 years of age;
  • Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age;
  • Makes, prints, publishes or possesses, for the purpose of publication, any child pornography;
  • Possession of child pornography.

Police are not identifying the accused to protect the victim’s identity.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville at an undetermined date.
