Man charged for sex crimes against minors in South Glengarry

A Calgary man is facing charges in connection with a historic sexual assault investigation in South Glengarry Township.

The Stormont Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say the incidents are said to have occurred throughout 2007 and 2008 while the accused was a senior administrator at an educational facility.

Students from Quebec and Ontario travelled for education and to study theology.

The investigation began in January 2023 and charges were laid on Friday, March 1.

A 48-year-old man faces the following charges:

  • Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 years of age (two counts)
  • Sexual Exploitation (three counts)

The accused was released from custody following a bail hearing and is due in court Cornwall on April 3, 2024.

A court-ordered publication ban has now been placed on proceedings in this case.
