Road closures in place for lying-in-state of former PM Brian Mulroney

There are a number of road closures in place for the lying-in-state of the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney.

The City of Ottawa is asking that motorists be aware of the following closures:

• Wellington Street, between Bank and Elgin streets
• Wellington Street (eastbound), between Bank and Lyon streets
• Metcalfe Street, between Queen and Wellington streets
• O’Connor Street, between Wellington and Queen streets

There closures will be in place until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20 and there will also be an enhanced police presence in the downtown core.

OC Transpo also wants to warn the public that some bus routes may be affected by the closures and to plan any trips using their website.

“Please allow extra times for your travels if using transit,” wrote OC Transpo on X.

Police suggest drivers to use alternate routes if possible and follow the directions of officers.
