Ottawa Police arrest 21-year-old man for Kanata shooting

Police say they’ve made an arrest in relation to a shooting in the city’s west end on Monday evening.

Ottawa Police Service (OPS) say that at around 6:30 p.m. they responded to multiple calls of shots heard in the area of Winterset Road.

Police say they arrested Aurelien Boutaleb, 21, and charged him with multiple firearms and drug offences. He was also charged with failure to comply with a release order.

No injuries were reported.

Police later executed a search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of Winterset Road. They say a loaded firearm with a prohibited high-capacity magazine was seized along with unspecified controlled substances.

Boutaleb appeared in court on Tuesday and remains in custody.

Police are asking anyone with information about this event, cell phone footage, or any other video of the incident who has not yet spoken with investigators to contact the Guns and Gangs Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5050.
