1 arrested after $7.5M East Ontario drug bust: OPP

Police say they arrested a man for drug trafficking after a traffic hazard complaint on Highway 17 on Wednesday.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says just after 1:30 a.m. they received a call about a traffic hazard on Highway 17 in Head Clara Maria Township. Police say they found the vehicle and arrested the lone occupant.

Police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant and seized about 125 kg of crystal methamphetamine. Police say the estimated street value is 7.5 million dollars.

Investigators say they also seized a prohibited firearm, suppressor, Canadian currency and a motor vehicle.

Police have charged Robin Moulton, 54, with impaired operation, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking as well as trafficking in schedule I substance.

Moulton remains in custody and his next court appearance is scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 4.

The investigation is continuing.
