Warm start to the week ahead of mid-week cool down, snow

It’s a gorgeous start to the week for the National Capital region, though we do have a little blast of winter on the way.

There is no precipitation forecast for Ottawa for Monday, April 1, with increasing cloud through the day and a high 10 C.

According to Environment Canada, things will cool down overnight with a low minus 5 C and a wind chill near minus 10, but Tuesday’s forecast is very promising. While a little windy, the weather agency is calling for sunshine and a high 11 C.

Precipitation is expected to move into the region Tuesday evening with a 40 per cent chance of showers and an overnight low 1 C.

Then comes the snow.

We’ve got snow in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday with highs between 1-2 C.

We close out the week with a cloudy Friday, a 60 per cent chance of flurries and a high 4, however by Sunday, Environment Canada is calling for beautiful spring weather.

  • Tonight: Clear. Wind up to 15 km/h. Low minus 5. Wind chill minus 9 overnight.
  • Tuesday, April 2: Sunny. Wind becoming east 20 km/h gusting to 40 near noon. High 11. Wind chill minus 9 in the morning.
  • Tuesday night: Cloudy with 40 percent chance of showers. Low plus 1.
  • Wednesday, April 3: Snow. High plus 2.
  • Wednesday night: Snow. Low minus 1.
  • Thursday, April 4: Snow. High plus 1.
  • Thursday night: Flurries. Low zero.
  • Friday, April 5: Cloudy with 60 percent chance of flurries or rain showers. High plus 4.
  • Friday night: Cloudy with 40 percent chance of flurries. Low minus 1.
  • Saturday, April 6: A mix of sun and cloud with 30 percent chance of flurries or rain showers. High 6.
  • Saturday night: Cloudy periods. Low zero.
  • Sunday, April 7: A mix of sun and cloud. High 14.
