Wet, windy weekend on tap for Ottawa

It’s a soggy start to the weekend for the nation’s capital.

Environment Canada is calling for periods of rain for Friday, April 12, with 10-15 mm expected.

There is a risk of thunderstorm for the late morning and early afternoon, with winds up to 60 km/h.

The forecast high is 16 C, but the weather agency says the temperature will fall to around 12 C for the afternoon.

It’s expected to be windy into the evening hours with gusts up to 50km/h, a chance of showers and an overnight low 4 C.

The wet weather will continue into Saturday, with a 60 per cent chance of showers, winds gusting up to 50 km/h for the morning and a daytime high of 7 C.

Things will dry off for us a bit on Sunday.

Environment Canada is calling for a cloudy day with a daytime high of 11 C, with a 30 per cent chance of evening showers and an overnight low of 2 C.

  • Monday, April 15: A mix of sun and cloud with a 30 percent chance of showers. High 15.
  • Monday night: Clear. Low plus 3.
  • Tuesday, April 16: Sunny. High 17.
  • Tuesday night: Clear. Low plus 2.
  • Wednesday, April 17: Cloudy. High 15.
  • Wednesday night: Cloudy with a  40 per cent chance of showers. Low 7.
  • Thursday, April 18: Cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers. High 16.
