OPP says 2 cars hit hydro poles in same day, 1 person with major injuries

Provincial police say that two different collisions on the same day involved people crashing into hydro poles on Sunday.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says the first crash happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. when L&A County OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on County Road 1 just west of Jim Kimmett Bolevard. Police say the vehicle rolled over the ditch and hit a hydro pole.

Emergency crews brought the driver to the hospital with major injuries.

Roads in the area were partially closed for several hours. The investigation is ongoing and police haven’t laid any charges.

OPP says the second collision happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Emerald 40 foot Road on Amherst Island.

Police say the vehicle tried to avoid a deer and hit a hydro pole. The driver had minor injuries.
