Human remains recovered from Ottawa River in Clarence-Rockland

Human remains have been discovered in the Ottawa River.

Around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 15, a person fishing at the boat launch on Edwards Street in Clarence-Rockland called the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report what appeared to be human remains in the water.

Russell County OPP officers, with assistance from the Clarence-Rockland Fire Department, responded to the location and recovered the body.

An investigation is now underway to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the death, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted.

The OPP does not believe there is any concern for public safety.
