Charges laid in connection with threats made against Smiths Falls police officers

One man is facing multiple charges after threats were made against two Smiths Falls police officers.

On Apr. 19, the Smiths Falls Police Service (SFPS) requested assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) after an individual made threats and committed multiple acts of vandalism in the form of graffiti.

Members of the OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit and the Lanark OPP Crime Unit began an investigation which resulted in an arrest warrant being issued.

On Apr. 20, OPP officers arrested a suspect in Ottawa, with help from the OPP ROPE (Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement) Squad.

 Gregory Bradford, 28, faces the following charges:

  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm (two counts)
  • Criminal harassment
  • Intimidation of a justice system participant
  • Mischief under $5000 (four counts)

 The accused remains in custody with a bail hearing scheduled for Apr. 23 in Perth.
