A planned demonstration and march could impact traffic downtown and in the ByWard Market this afternoon, the Ottawa Police Service said in a post on X.
According to OPS, the demonstration should begin on Parliament Hill, followed by a march in the downtown core.
Impacted areas could include Wellington, Rideau, Coburg, Heney and Charlotte Street.
Residents should expect an increased police presence in the downtown core and potential rolling road closures this afternoon.
As per OPS policy, the force says they aren’t identifying groups that are demonstrating.
“We are working with our municipal and policing partners to ensure public safety,” OPS said. “We respect everyone’s right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly but we also encourage the demonstrators to remain respectful and lawful.”
